HQS Inspection

All apartments must be inspected and are required to pass the programs Housing Quality Standards (HQS). Apartments must be maintained to those standards as long as the owner is receiving housing assistance payments from the MHA. This ensures that participants are leasing decent, safe and sanitary housing at a reasonable rent. 

Apartments are required to be inspected on an annual or biennial cycle. Inspections can also take place for the following reasons: initial moves, complaints and quality control inspections.
